Sign the petition to keep our Top End coasts healthy

Mass mangrove die-off and destruction. Toxic pollution in Darwin Harbour. Some of our best fishing in decline. A new shocking report into the threats to our Top End coasts is a wake-up call to all Territorians.

Our unique NT way of life depends on the health of our extraordinary coasts.

Sign the petition calling on all NT pollies to commit to a plan that will secure the future of our coasts, and our Top End lifestyle.

Dear Territory leaders (CC my MLA and candidates),

A new shocking report, Health Check of our Top End Coasts by the Environmental Defenders Office Northern Territory (EDONT), reveals how current and historical decision making has resulted in evident and escalating permanent damage to the NT's coasts, such as the destruction of essential mangrove systems, toxic pollution in Darwin Harbour, and declines in popular fish stocks.

Territorians enjoy a lifestyle second to none. The natural environment, its beauty and bounty, are central to the Territory way of life, to its economic success and our shared futures. Research recently commissioned found that Territorians are worried about the threats to their enviable lifestyle.

A detailed plan to safeguard the Top End’s coasts and waterways is urgently needed now.

I call on all political parties to make an election commitment for a plan that will protect our Top End coasts and lifestyle.

Yours sincerely,
(Your name and suburb will be added here)
