The plan guiding the Northern Territory’s future economic development has just been released and, thanks to your support, protection of our unique coastal environment and lifestyle is included in the framework.
The coastal and marine environment, its beauty and the bounty it provides are central to the Territory way of life, to economic success and to our shared futures. It is fantastic to see this recognised through the Coastal and Marine Management Strategy, a key instrument to manage and protect our unique Top End, being included in the Economic Development Framework released today.
Congratulations to the Gunner Labor Government for making the health of our Top End coasts a priority. This is a great step forward. And thank you to the hundreds who sent a message - you’ve been heard!
So what’s next?
Save the date - Thursday 20 July. We will be inviting you to come along to hear first hand how 2017 will deliver enduring protections for the NT coast, and how you can be part of it. Food and drinks will be on us - venue to be confirmed.
While much of our coast is still in good shape, it is facing growing pressures. The Territory’s economic future depends on a well managed and protected coastal environment. The Coastal and Marine Management Strategy is a great opportunity to do just this.
Come along to our event on the evening of July 20th to hear about how we can turn this opportunity into reality. We’ll be in touch with details soon.
For now, thanks again for standing up for our Top End coasts. The inclusion of the Coastal and Marine Management Strategy in the Economic Development Framework is a fantastic achievement.
